"VAN" (Dar Rafi - Ganderbal, Srinagar) :: The concluding day of ambitious programme, “My Town My Pride” today witnessed multi prolonged activities in district Ganderbal in which large number of people participated.
The main function under “My Town My Pride” was organized in the lawns of the Mini Secretariat Ganderbal during which cultural events and folk songs were showcased on “Beti bachao Beti Padhao” besides various sports activities were also witnessed on conclusion day.
On the occasion, the Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta felicitates COVID frontline workers, distributes Baby kits among Lactating mothers, Pension passbooks to the beneficiaries and distributed loan sanction letters among the beneficiaries of Street Vendors.
Later, Principal Secretary chaired a meeting of the Councilors to review the developmental scenario of the town besides took stock of functioning of Municipal Council Ganderbal.
The said meeting was attended by the District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, EO Municipality besides councilors and district officers.
During the meeting EO briefed the Principal Secretary through a power point presentation about functioning of Municipal Council and major achievements during last year like removal of bottle necks, cent percent door to door waste collection, installation of street lights, Physical and Financial progress under 14th Finance Grants 2020-21 and activities during COVID pandemic.
The councilors raised several pending issues like removal of chronic bottle necks of roads, establishment of SWMP, creation of parking facilities, relocation of electric poles from town roads, repairing and renovation of Town Hall and other developmental issues of the town.
The Principal Secretary gave on spot directions to the concerned officers for the early redressal of genuine issues raised by the councilors and sought cooperation of all stake holders for ensuring holistic development of the town and public service delivery at the doorsteps.
He also directed the officials of line departments that while finalizing any type of developmental activity within the town, the councilors shall be taken on board and no developmental activity of the town shall be carried out without their consultation.
