"VAN" (Sports Desk - 21.12.2024) :: The inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 Super League concluded with resounding success, prompting the T10 management to reward the ground staff with 18 lakhs for their outstanding contribution to the smooth-running of the tournament. Despite heavy rain disrupting several fixtures, the ground staff — comprising 120 groundsmen — ensured the venues were match-ready, earning widespread appreciation. The Tournament culminated on Thursday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, where over 8,000 fans turned up for the thrilling title clash between the Jaffna Titans and the Hambantota Bangla Tigers. The Hambantota Bangla Tigers emerged as champions, securing a memorable 26-run victory over the Titans. The grand finale wasn’t just about cricket—it was a full-blown spectacle. Fans were treated to exhilarating performances by singer Hana Shafa and musical artist Wasthi, adding to the electrifying atmosphere. Several standout performances throughout the tournament were recognized. Dasun Shanaka was named Player of the Tournament for his exceptional all-round performances. Traveen Mathew bagged both the Bowler of the Tournament and Emerging Player of the Tournament titles for his brilliant displays with the ball. Kusal Mendis was crowned Batter of the Tournament for his match-winning contributions during the season.
