"VAN" (Panaji - Goa Bureau) :: The ‘Eighth All India Hindu Convention for Hindu Nation’ that is currently underway, from May 27 to June 4, 2019, saw the presence of over 520 representatives from 174 devout Hindu organisations from Bangladesh and 25 Indian states. The Convention served as a platform for detailed dialogue on problems affecting Hindus at the national and international level, including government control over of temples. The Supreme Court on two occasions has raised questions about how the ‘secular’ government of India can look after the management of Hindus’ temples ? Why does the government that is enthusiastic about taking over temples of only Hindus shy away from taking over churches and mosques ? The state of the temples taken over by the government is pathetic. Several temple management trusts are indulging in corruption. The traditions, customs and ritualistic practices in the temple taken over by the government are being interfered with and altered. The devout Hindu can never tolerate these steps. While speaking at the Eighth All India Hindu Convention for the Hindu Nation's Press Conference held at Hotel Manoshanti here on June 3, 2019, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s National Guide, Sadguru (Dr.) Charudatt Pingale demanded that “A management committee of Hindus be constituted for temples; and Shankaracharyas, Dharmacharyas, devout advocates, representatives of religious organisations etc. be appointed into this committee. Authority to take decisions concerning temples be given to this committee and not to the secular government.” Bharat Raksha Manch’s National Head from Odisha Shri. Anil Dhir; Mrs. Ritu Rathaur from Delhi of ‘Hindu Charter’, Sanatan Sanstha’s National Spokesperson Shri. Chetan Rajhans and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s National Spokesperson Shri. Ramesh Shinde were also present at the occasion.
While addressing the mediapersons, Sadguru (Dr.) Pingale further said, “From the viewpoint of law, the government has no right to take over temples. While delivering its order in the case of Natraj temple of Tamil Nadu, the Supreme Court has clarified that no secular government has the right to takeover temples and keep them in its custody forever. Also, the government cannot use temple land as government land. If some wrongdoings are observed in a temple, a temporary government officer can be appointed to lay out a system plan to weed out the wrongdoings, after which the temple is supposed to be handed over back to the corresponding sect or caste. However, in reality, the government is emptying the coffers of the temple. It is essential to weed out the government officials who have assumed the role of modern-day Ghaznis hiding behind the veil of secularism. Therefore, the devout Hindus spread across the country are going to come together to carry out a nationwide campaign by the name of ‘Mandir Sanskruti Rakshan Abhiyaan.’
At the occasion, Shri. Anil Dhir from Odisha said, “Government owned Archaeology Department is only concerned about the Taj Mahal and not about temples. Odisha’s Jagannath Temple of Puri and the Sun temple of Konark are under government custody. In the last 50 years, the condition of these temples has deteriorated more than in the 5 centuries that these temples have been standing for.

The government imposes tax on temple donations, but exempts mosques and churches from taxes. There is no infrastructure for Hindus to pursue religious education. Where do Hindus go in order to teach their kids Vedas and Shastras ? This is a grave injustice. These temples should be freed from government control in order to use them for propagation and spread of Dharma. The newly formed BJP government should establish ‘Hindu Sanskruti Jeernoddhar Nigam’, with a seed fund of at least Rs. 10,000 crores for restoration of dilapidated temples and architecture for preservation and propagation of Hindu (native Indian) literature, arts, dance forms, culture and traditions.
Shri. Chetan Rajhans, at the occasion said, “We are going to take comprehensive steps to efficiently use the Right To Information Act (RTI) to fight legal battles against various attacks on Hindu Dharma, organise meetings and protests in various places for protection of temples, collaborate with temple management trusts and priests to conduct meetings, and to impart religious education through temples, as a part of the ‘Mandir Sankruti Rakshan Abhiyaan’”.
Resolutions passed at the Eighth All India Hindu Convention for Hindu Nation !
1. All the devout Hindu organisations present at the Convention will work through lawful means towards declaring India a ‘Hindu Nation’. Insertion of the word 'Secular' in the Indian Constitution by unconstitutional means be replaced by the word 'Spiritual' and India be declared a 'Hindu Nation'.
2. The Convention wholly supports the demand of Nepali Hindus of declaring Nepal a Hindu Nation.
3. The Centre take into consideration the strong sentiments of the Hindu society and construct Shree Ram temple in Ayodhya, in addition to approving conclusive laws for a nationwide ban on cow-slaughter and religious conversion.
4. The atrocities on Hindus in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka be investigated by the government of India and the International Human Rights Commission. Hindus who have faced atrocities in Pakistan-Bangladesh and have taken refuge in India be given Indian citizenship.
5. A Union Territory by the name of ‘Panun Kashmir’ be formed in the Kashmir valley to rehabilitate the displaced Kashmiri Hindus. Article 370 and Article 35-A from the Constitution of India be scrapped with immediate effect.
6. The Centre abolish the government’s control over temples across India and hand over the managerial powers to the devotees. A Central management committee be formed with powers to take decision in the matters of the tradition and ritualistic practice in temples.
7. The Centre take decisions on renaming the cities, towns, roads etc. currently named after foreign invaders. A ‘Central Commission for Naming’ be formed with immediate effect for suggesting names that are in line with India’s glorious cultural legacy.
8. The Centre take conclusive steps to ensure that the innocent seekers of Sanatan Sanstha are not harassed by investigating agencies in cases of the killings of liberals. A ban be declared on the usage of the imaginary ‘Saffron Terror’.
9. The Eighth All India Hindu Convention for the Hindu Nation protests against the unconstitutional ban imposed by misusing the law, on Shri Rame Sene’s founder Shri. Pramod Muthalik on entering Goa.
10. The Convention protests against the CBI arrest of the National Secretary of Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad Adv. Sanjeev Punalekar and Parishad’s RTI activist Shri. Vikram Bhave. We demand their immediate release with full dignity.
