Nearly 11,000 people evacuated from Kabul in past 12 hours by US with the total of 53,000

"VAN" (Afghanistan Bureau - 25.08.2021) :: A number of 10,900 people have been flown out of Afghanistan bringing the total number of evacuees to 53,000 people since July this year. White House gave this statement on Monday, 23rd August.

The Afghans are reportedly taken to Doha, Abdu Dhabi, and some of them directly to the US where four military bases have been allotted for.

The US has recently expedited the evacuation process and has started vacating people in civil planes along with the already deployed military ones.

The number dramatically increases only six days before the deadline of August 31 which marks the end of US presence in Afghanistan.

US president Joe Biden though does not seem to be extending the stay, France, Germany, and Britain has said that their evacuation mission may extend beyond August 31.

Meanwhile, the stay of US troops in Kabul airport is said to be finalized after Joe Biden meets his British counterpart on Tuesday, but the Taliban has already reacted and has warned repercussions.

According to Pentagon, the evacuees include US citizens, applicants of SIV, translators, workers of US NGO’s and Afghan journalists and media workers.

On the ground, thousands of men, women, and children are still waiting under boiling radiation of the sun to get a chance to enter Hamid Karzai International Airport and fly out.
