New dates, Huge show for NITRO Champs

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 29.04.2024) :: Australia’s biggest nitro-fuelled event will deliver a show “well worth the wait” when the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs is held across new dates of May 17-19.

In announcing the new dates today to avoid extreme weather conditions forecast for the next two weeks, the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) said they are excited to bring the biggest nitro show Sydney has ever seen when the event kicks off on the 17th of May.

All of the originally planned racing and entertainment – including two rounds of Top Fuel plus XPRO Nitro Funny Cars – has already been locked in for the new dates, and other exciting plans are in the works.

“No one likes to reschedule events, but with the extreme weather coming up, this is the right call to make, ensuring we can deliver on our promise of Australia’s biggest nitro-fuelled drag racing event,” NDRC Co-Founder, Andy Lopez, said.

“With the weather forecast as clear as this one is, we knew we wanted to make this call early to allow our spectators and racers to plan accordingly.

“We are really excited to confirm that our planned racing and entertainment will be coming for our new dates, we have other plans in the works also, and we look forward to putting on a huge show for what will hopefully be a packed house.

“Rest assured, we’re already hard at work to make sure this event is as massive as possible. It will absolutely be well worth the wait!”

Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car will both headline the event across May 17-19, with an absolute bonanza of Top Fuel action instore for race fans with the 11,000hp dragsters to contest two championship rounds across two days, with testing passes on the Friday.

These fire-breathing monsters will be joined on-track by Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock and FuelTech Pro Mod, as well as two rounds of the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship’s Eastern Conference – one on Friday, and a second spread across Saturday and Sunday.

The non-stop action on-track will be complemented by a host of off-track entertainment initiatives, including DJs and aerial acrobatics from none other than Australia’s own Red Bull Air Race world champion and former Royal Australian Air Force top gun fighter pilot, Matt Hall.

Tickets are available now at ndrc.tv with kids aged 10 and under gaining free access with a paying adult.

All tickets and race entries purchased remain valid for the new dates. All spectator and competitor purchasers will receive an email with this information as well as instructions on what to do if they’re unable to attend.
