"VAN" (Sports Desk - 07.06.2025) :: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to unveil seven new inductees into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame during a ceremony in London on Monday, 9 June, which will be one of the most significant inductions since the original list was announced in 2009.

The five men and two women inductees, hailing from six different countries, will be initiated at ‘A Day with the Legends’ event that will be beamed live by various ICC broadcast partner networks, giving cricket fans the world over an opportunity to watch the momentous occasion.

The seven iconic cricketers, who were voted by the ICC Hall of Famers, senior executives and members of the media, will be presented with commemorative caps honouring their contribution to the game to mark their induction.

The mega event, which starts at 16h30 British Standard Time, will also serve as a prelude to the ICC World Test Championship Final, where South Africa will take on Australia at the Lord’s Cricket Ground from 11-15 June.

The captains, Temba Bavuma and Pat Cummins, will share their insights ahead of the final of the third edition of the championship.

Mr Jay Shah, ICC Chairman, said: “Inducting legends into the ICC Hall of Fame is our way of honouring the game’s most extraordinary contributors. This accolade is reserved exclusively for those whose achievements have left an indelible mark on the sport, and each selection is made purely on merit.”

With the event serving as the curtain-raiser to the ICC World Test Championship Final, there is much to celebrate and anticipate.”

About the ICC Hall of Fame: The ICC Hall of Fame, which pays tribute to the extraordinary achievements of cricket legends who have shaped the sport's rich and vibrant history, inducts players only five years after they played their last international match.

The ICC Hall of Fame was launched in January 2009 in association with the World Cricketers Association (WCA), which was then known as the Federation of International Cricketers Associations (FICA), as part of the ICC's centenary year celebrations.

The initial intake of inductees were the 55 players named in the FICA Hall of Fame, which ran between 1999 and 2003, with new names added each year starting from 2009.

The last induction was carried out in October 2024, when England’s Alastair Cook, South Africa’s AB de Villiers, and Indian woman player Neetu David received their well-deserved recognition.
