"VAN" (Sports Desk - 04.08.2025) :: The World Games 2025 took a major step forward today with the official opening of the TWG 2025 Athletes Village, just four days ahead of the highly anticipated multi-sport event kicking off from 7-17 August.
The state-of-the-art Village, Zones A and B, will be home to more than 4,000 athletes from 114 countries and regions competing across 34 sports and 60 disciplines. The Village is designed to foster community and comfort, ensuring that participants have the optimal environment to perform at their best.
Village A is set to accommodate athletes, coaches, and International Federation (IF) officials from the following sports: Air Sports, American Football, Archery, Billiards, Boules Sports, Canoe, Cheerleading, Fistball, Flying Disc (Ultimate), Gymnastics, Handball, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Korfball, Lacrosse, Life Saving, Orienteering, Powerboating, SAMBO, Sport Climbing, Triathlon, Tug of war, Underwater Sports, WaterSki & Wakeboard, while Village B will host athletes and staff from Baseball-Softball, DanceSport, Floorball, Flying Disc (Disc Golf), Kickboxing, Muaythai, Powerlifting, Racquetball, Roller Sports, Squash and Wushu.
During a grand ceremony marking the Village Opening, the Village Mayor took the stage to deliver a speech, followed by the collective oath-taking of the TWG Village Executive Mayors and TWG Village staff representatives, after the official handover of the Village Flag.
IWGA CEO, part of the delegation who official opening the Village, said:
