Jim Read racing ready to socket to breast cancer at Dragway at The Bend

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 30.09.2025) :: Race fans can expect a Top Fuel show for the ages at Dragway at The Bend’s Spring Nationals across October 3-5, with Hydraulink Jim Read Racing ready to bring the goods while championing an important message and sporting a bold new look.

For this event, the traditional Hydraulink yellow has been replaced by a striking black and pink design displaying the branding of Snap-on’s Socket to Breast Cancer fundraising initiative, of which three-time Top Fuel champion Phil Read is once again an ambassador.

As well as spreading awareness through this exciting new look, the team will take donations in the pits across the weekend. Motorsport enthusiasts are also encouraged to seek out the limited-edition pink tool range available throughout October from Snap-on franchisees, with a portion of the proceeds from every sale going directly to the McGrath Foundation.

“Breast cancer doesn’t just touch individuals, it impacts families, friends, businesses and communities. Whether you’re in the pits at the track, in the workshop, or at home, chances are you know someone who has been affected,” Phil said.

“Raising funds for this important cause is deeply personal; a close family friend has undergone treatment for breast cancer and so this year, we’ve proudly wrapped our Top Fuel Dragster pink in support.

“Every pink tool sold is more than gear for the garage, it is funding for a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse. If buying a pink tool helps even one more family get the support they need, then that’s something I’ll stand behind.”

“In racing, you’re always pushing to go faster and achieve more. That’s exactly what we’re doing this year, building on last year’s $217,000 to hit a new target of a quarter of a million dollars. It’s a big goal, but I know with the passion of Snap-on’s customers and the wider automotive and racing community, we can get there and make a real difference for families facing cancer."

As they get ready to hit the track with this new look, the Hydraulink Jim Read Racing team sends its thanks to its supporting partners for the role they have played in making this campaign possible.

“A huge thanks goes to Hydraulink for forgoing their usual branding on our dragster to make this livery possible for the Spring Nationals – their support of this concept is greatly appreciated, as is the support of all of our valued partners,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, said.

“The look isn’t the only thing that has undergone change heading to Dragway at The Bend either – the whole car has had a refresh since our last time out at the Winternationals back in June, and we are excited to get out there on the track.

“The Bend has been a happy hunting ground for us in the past, and we are looking forward to throwing all we can at it to bring home a strong result.

“While this event is a standalone competition outside of the NDRC Top Fuel championship chase, success here would be a perfect preamble to our season finale at the rescheduled Nitro Nationals (November 8), and would also allow us to put the Socket to Breast Cancer fundraising initiative front and centre at The Bend, so of course we will be doing all we can to make that happen.”

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is supported on track by Hydraulink, Snap-On, FXD Workwear, Valvoline, McDonalds, Comp Cams, PremiAir Hire, Odyssey Batteries, PMP Motorsport Products, Oasis Aquatics, Oasis Heat Pumps, Speed Gas, Spa Electric Pool Lighting, Ezarri Tiles, and Pacific Pools.
