World Rowing Opens Strategic Event Hosting Opportunities for 2027–2028

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 20.05.2025) :: World Rowing has officially launched a new call for Expressions of Interest from cities, regions, and National Rowing Federations to host its flagship events for 2027 and 2028, marking a shift from traditional competitive bidding to a strategic, partnership-driven model. At the core of this new direction is World Rowing’s Strategic Event Attribution Process (SEAP) - a long-term, collaborative framework designed to align major Rowing events with host destinations that share a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and sporting legacy. The goal: to maximise both economic impact and long-term development of the sport across Classic, Coastal, and Indoor Rowing disciplines. Events now open for expressions of interest include : World Rowing Coastal Championships & Beach Sprint Finals (2027 & 2028) : 2027 will include qualification to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, and the Beach Sprint Finals in the Olympic year of 2028 will feature all Olympic events. World Rowing Cups I, II, & III (2027 & 2028) : World Rowing will be introducing an attractive sporting incentive scheme, encouraging Member Federation Teams and Star Athletes to participate in each leg of the World Rowing Cup from 2027 onwards. World Rowing Indoor Championships, presented by Concept2 (2027 or 2028) : A unique opportunity to consider in the context of Indoor Rowing expected to be ‘Olympic’ through inclusion in the 2027 Olympic Esports Games.
