Asunción Sets Itself In Motion With Official Launch Of World Skate Games ASU26!

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 12.03.2026) :: With a city preparing to spin to the rhythm of global sport, Paraguay officially presented the World Skate Games ASU26 — the largest international event dedicated to wheeled sports— which is to be held in Asunción from October 2 to 18, 2026.

The presentation took place at the Medal Hall of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, where national authorities, international sports leaders, athletes, and representatives of the sports ecosystem gathered to mark the beginning of the journey toward a competition which will transform the country into the global hub for wheeled sports.

The launch was attended by the President of the Republic of Paraguay Santiago Peña, national sports authorities including the Executive Secretary Minister of the National Sports Secretariat, César Ramírez Caje, the President of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, Camilo Pérez López Moreira, sports leaders and representatives of World Skate — the global governing body for these disciplines and an IOC-affiliated federation— led by president Sabatino Aracu.

During the event, Paraguayan athletes with international experience delivered demonstrations of some of the disciplines featured in the championship- bringing to the stage the essence of these sports: spinning, rolling, sliding, accelerating, defying gravity, and transforming urban space into a playing field.

Showcases included artistic roller skating, skateboarding, and inline hockey, offering a preview of the creativity and speed which define wheel sports.

As the evening progressed, the concept which will accompany ASU26 throughout the year was unveiled: “United by Wheels” — a message that captures the spirit of a global community united by sport, where cultures, generations, and cities converge on the same wheeled path.
