"VAN" (Om Prakash Mundra - Aichi-Nagoya, Japan - 18.10.2026) :: After the strong performance by Indian athletes in Asian Games 2026, indian contingent won total 85 medals now para asian contingent is ready for the opening ceremony today and will be participating only in 10 sporting events.
There are total 168 athletes from india ,112 men and 56 women, in the last para asian games indian athletes performed the best ever winning 111 medals out of which gold 29, silver 31 and bronze 51 medals and were in 5th position in medal tally.
India is participating this time in only 10 events and is expected to win 60 plus medals. india’s main medal winning event is athletics ,badminton. shooting and archery.
The main athletes to watch in this tournaments are pramod bhagat badminton, sheetal devi archery, avani lekhara shooting, bhavina patel table tennis, simran sharma in athletics and many others.
The flag bearer of this para asian games is star badminton player pramod bhagat for men and simran sharma for women. In the last moment simran sharma replaced vetran bhavina patel , the reason not known but its said she wants to rest for her quarter final match .
Pramod Bhagat one of the best para badminton player got gold in tokyo olympics.
Simran Sharma a bronze medalist in paris paralympics and a gold medalist in world para athletics chamionship new delhi in 2025, she is awarded with arjuna award.
The games are starting from 18th october and will comclude on 24 october 2026.
