Melissa Jefferson-Wooden stole the show, producing a dominant run to win the women's 100m and breaking the championship record with 10.61. Oblique Seville delivered on the promise he'd shown for years, taking the men's 100m crown in a PB of 9.77. Peres Jepchirchir, winner of the Olympic title here four years ago, took the women's marathon gold in a thrilling finish. On the field, US duo Tara Davis-Woodhall and Valarie Allman lived up to expectation to take the long jump and discus titles respectively.
