Erasmus reprimanded for breaching ICC Code Of Conduct

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 03.11.2026) :: Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus has been handed an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth ODI against Ireland in Windhoek on Friday.

Erasmus was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match.”

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Erasmus, for whom it was the second offence in a 24-month period, taking his tally of demerit points to two. Erasmus received his earlier demerit point for an offence during an ODI against the Netherlands on 13 March 2025.

Friday’s incident occurred in the 16th over of Namibia’s innings, when Erasmus, after being adjudged leg-before wicket, gestured to the umpire that he was not out before leaving reluctantly, and continued to gesture even after leaving the field.

Erasmus admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Dean Cosker of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Ewoud Lassen and Jayaraman Madanagopal, and reserve umpire Claus Schumacher levelled the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
