Record-breaking Rotary Revival heads to Mallala for the first time

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 29.10.2026) :: After breaking records just last week, Australia's celebration of rotary-powered cars is heading back to South Australia at a brand-new venue, with Rotary Revival Adelaide to take over Mallala Motorsport Park on Saturday 14 November.

Rotary Revival brings Wankel-powered cars together on track, from restored classics to tough street cars and full race builds.

The November 14 date follows hugely successful events at Sydney Motorsport Park – where the latest event on October 24 hosted a record 419 cars – as well as Brisbane’s Lakeside Park and South Australia’s Bend Motorsport Park, bringing all things rotary to a new venue which is rich in heart and history.

At what will be the event’s third trip to South Australia, entrants will have the chance to drive their own rotary-powered cars on Mallala’s 2.61-kilometre circuit amidst a full program of on and off the track for drivers and spectators alike.

Featured on the schedule will be track cruising, ‘racer’ laps, old school drag racing, parade laps, a show and shine, action on the skid pan, family sessions, and trade and industry displays bringing together some of the best businesses, builders, and tuners of the rotary community.

“South Australia has a strong rotary community, and Mallala is the right place to bring it together,” Rotary Revival Event Director, Gen Dodd, said.

“It is an incredible circuit with real history and so much heart to it, and it suits a car that sounds like nothing else on the road.

“We only announced this event last month, and already we have the entrants flowing in – we cannot wait to see rotary enthusiasts both on and off the track enjoying what we anticipate will the first of many Rotary Revival Adelaides to come.”

Tim Gibbs is one of a host of entrants already counting down the days to November 14, with the former Adelaidean travelling all the way from his home in Melbourne to take part in the event with his impressive Series 4 RX-7.

“I am really looking forward to Rotary Revival at Mallala,” Gibbs said.

“I grew up in Adelaide and spent plenty of time hanging around at Mallala Motorsport Park, but I have never been on the track before, so it will be great to get out there and see what it is all about.

“Rotaries are not something you see all the time, and in my biased opinion they are pretty cool! Events like this are really great as they bring people together and I can’t wait for it to be honest.”

Dodd said the day was designed for owners to use their cars the way they were built to be used.

“Whether it is a restored RX-2, a street-driven RX-7 or a full race build, there is a place for it on the day,” Dodd said.

“Entering is the best way to experience it, but even if you do not own a rotary, I really encourage you to come along and find out what all the noise is about.

“Bring your mates, bring your family, and be part of the first ever Rotary Revival Adelaide at Mallala Motorsport Park – there will be something for everyone, and I am willing to bet you will soon be hooked on these very special cars! “Let’s make Mallala Motorsport Park the new home of BRAP in Adelaide!”

The November 14 event will also be swiftly followed by another new venue for Rotary Revival, when the event goes to Victoria for the very first time, hitting Calder Park on December 5.
