UAE and Indonesia lead the way for global nominees in ICC Development Awards 2025

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 06.06.2026) :: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced 30 ICC Development Awards 2025 regional winners across six categories that will compete for the Global Awards in July, with a further six shortlisted for the ICC criiio Cricket Festivals with Rexona.

Established in 2002, the ICC Development Awards both recognise and celebrate the hard work undertaken by ICC Members in emerging nations to grow the global game.

This year, a total of 20 ICC Members have been honoured as Regional Winners, with the Member Boards of the UAE and Indonesia claiming four regional wins across different categories in Asia and the East Asia-Pacific, respectively. Brazil and Japan were also repeat winners and will each contest three Global Awards.

The categories cover both programmes and performance, from development initiatives in countries such as Uganda and Cyprus to social impact programmes in Bhutan and Romania, and female cricket campaigns in Suriname and Türkiye.

There is also recognition of exceptional on-field performances in international competition from the likes of the Bahamas, Nigeria, Scotland, Tanzania and Italy.

There was also recognition for digital fan engagement in Canada, Namibia and Oman, while the six-nation global shortlist for the ICC criiio Cricket Festivals with Rexona contains entries from Bahrain and Qatar, among others.

The Regional Winners will now be put forward as contenders to claim the Global Awards, determined by a specialist and independent panel of voters consisting of two-time ICC Men’s T20 World Cup-winner Samuel Badree, ex-Ireland international Kevin O’Brien and former Zimbabwe international Mary-Anne Musonda. The remainder of the 12-strong panel includes representatives from ICC partners, ICC Full Members, and the media, with the Global Winners set to be revealed on ICC channels in July.

Jay Shah, ICC Chairman, said: “The ICC Development Awards continue to highlight the outstanding work being delivered by our Members to grow cricket in emerging nations and create more opportunities for people to engage with the game around the world.

“Across every region, we are seeing innovation, inclusivity and ambition drive the sport forward through grassroots participation programmes, women’s cricket initiatives, digital fan engagement and strong on-field performances. The diversity of this year’s winners reflects the global momentum behind the game and the dedication of Members.

“I would like to congratulate all of the Regional Winners and shortlisted Members on their achievements and wish them the very best ahead of the Global Awards.”
