Another record-breaking year for Duplantis?

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 16.03.2026) :: We are barely a quarter of the way through 2026, and already Mondo Duplantis is making history again.

The Swedish pole vault superstar jumped 6.31m at the Mondo Classic in Uppsala last week, breaking the world record for the 15th time in his career.

Four of those 15 records have come at Wanda Diamond League meetings, and Duplantis already has his eye on more success in athletics' premier one-day series in 2026.

Last Thursday, the five-time series champion confirmed his attendance at the Meeting de Paris on June 28th, where he will attack his own meeting record of 6.01m.

Paris is one of five Diamond League meetings at which Duplantis is planning to compete this season, having already signed up for Doha, Keqiao, London and Silesia.

The 26-year-old is out to win his sixth series title in 2026, which would leave him just one short of the all-time record held by fellow pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie and US triple jump legend Christian Taylor.

Paris was one of three Diamond League meetings to announce a world record holder last week.

Eugene's Prefontaine Classic confirmed a world-class 100m hurdles field which includes world record holder Tobi Amusan, Olympic champion Masai Russell, two-time world champion Danielle Williams and World Athletics Championships bronze medallist Grace Stark.

Meanwhile in China, Xiamen revealed that 400m hurdles world record holder Karsten Warholm would be among the headliners alongside local hurdles star Wu Yanni and long jump world champion Mattia Furlani.
