"VAN" (Sports Desk - 15.10.2026) :: Jake Hamilton-Moderate has become the first ANDRA championship event winner in Extreme Bike, taking out the bracket's maiden ANDRA Christmas Tree at the All Bike Nationals at Dragway at The Bend.
Extreme Bike has been installed as a championship bracket of the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series for the first time this season, having previously run as an exhibition class, and the debut round drew a six-bike field headed by returning faces and a new generation of heads-up racers.
Hamilton-Moderate's path to the final ran through the Chicago Shootout format, with wins over Cory Read, Darren Foley and Brendan Miglionico. Miglionico had earlier accounted for Nitro Voodoo Top Qualifier Ryan Franks in round one before taking a bye run in round three.
The final itself was the race of the weekend, with both riders loose off the line and pushing to the stripe.
"All Bike Nationals was great – it was awesome catching up with everyone again, as it has been a while since we have been out with the racing family," Hamilton-Moderate said.
"We are stoked to see Extreme Bike up and running this season as a championship bracket, not just as exhibition, which is great to showcase some of Australia's fastest heads-up motorcycle racing.
"I want to say a big thanks to my crew for keeping me and the bike together: Bethany Hamilton-Moderate, Layla Hamilton-Moderate, Marius du Toit, and Luke Bradbrook."
Hamilton-Moderate's weekend was not without its troubles, but it all worked out in the end.
"Our weekend at All Bike Nationals didn't go without its challenge, we missed one pass with voltage issues, but we managed to make it into the finals with Brendan,” he said.
“It was a great race to watch, with both of us getting a bit loose and pushing till the end – and I managed to come away with the win, which of course I was very happy about.
"It is always a pleasure racing with these guys, and I am already looking forward to round two for Extreme Bike at the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters in Sydney – hopefully we can all put some six-second passes down."
The Extreme Bike title chase runs across three rounds, with the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters at Sydney Dragway on January 23 and the ANDRA Grand Finals at Dragway at The Bend on April 23-24 to follow. Racing is run on a heads-up Pro Tree under the Chicago Shootout format, with Christmas Tree trophies on offer at each event and for the champion.
The bracket arrives with backing from both industry and its own ranks. Champion racer Joe Khoury, through his business Motorcycle Transport and Repairs, is behind the class as sponsor and has added $1,000 in prize money on top of ANDRA's $3,000 pool for the championship winner and runner-up, while the Extreme Bike Association is supporting the introduction and has put a further $1,000 on the line for its highest-scoring member across the three rounds.
