PANAM Sports Channel will broadcast the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 31.10.2026) :: Panam Sports Channel has great news for Olympic sports fans. Starting tomorrow, October 31, and running through November 13, the 4th Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will take place—for the first time in the history of the Olympic Movement, on the African continent. And our OTT platform—the Pan-American sports channel—will bring the official broadcast of this major Olympic event to all your devices.

In total, more than 2,600 athletes aged 18 and under, representing 205 National Olympic Committees and the Olympic Refugee Team, will take part in this sporting celebration set to take place in Senegal. A total of 1,336 men and 1,327 women will compete—for the first time in the history of these Games—with an equal number of events for both genders.

The program includes 25 competitive sports, among them track and field, swimming, archery, badminton, Baseball5, 3x3 basketball, boxing, breaking, road cycling, show jumping, fencing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, judo, skateboarding, taekwondo, triathlon, sailing, beach volleyball, and wushu, among others. Baseball5 and wushu are making their debut in the Youth Olympic program.

In addition, there are 10 participation sports—in which no medals are awarded—designed to bring the Olympic spirit to the local community: canoeing, golf, hockey, karate, modern pentathlon, shooting, sport climbing, surfing, tennis, and weightlifting.

The Games will be held in the capital, Dakar; the new city of Diamniadio, about 30 kilometers to the east; and the seaside resort of Saly. Instead of building new venues, the Organizing Committee opted to renovate and reuse existing facilities that will continue to serve the community once the event is over.

The Americas are represented strongly in Senegal. Mexico leads the region with the largest delegation—62 athletes competing in 18 sports—followed by Venezuela (34 athletes in 15 sports), Puerto Rico (30 in 11 sports), and the United States (29 in 12 sports).

Opening Ceremony

Today, October 31, at 6:30 p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. ET), the Opening Ceremony will take place at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio, a venue expected to welcome more than 55,000 spectators.

This highly anticipated event will feature more than 700 dancers and a spectacular show that will showcase Senegalese identity and Africa’s cultural diversity, in addition to the traditional parade of athletes from all participating countries.
