"VAN" (Sports Desk - 14.01.2026) :: As the countdown to the return of ANDRA drag racing at Sydney Dragway – the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters on January 24 – continues the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) has been pleased to announce a near 150-strong entry list.
Competing for more than $70,000 in cash and prizes as well as highly coveted Gold ANDRA Christmas Tree trophies, these racers come from all over the country and comprise some of the best names in the elite group one and sportsman ranks alike.
Across the Doorslammer Masters, Pro Mod Masters, Extreme Motorcycle Masters, and Pro Stock brackets, 26 racers will delight racing fans at the premier NSW drag racing venue.
At the same time, 121 of Australia’s best sportsman competitors will descend on Sydney Dragway for the one-day spectacular, with local heroes set to take on interstate stars, some for the very first time.
Away from the track, a bustling program of displays, merchandisers, trade stands and more, along with the traditional ‘open’ drag racing pits, will ensure that there’s plenty for fans to see and do across what is set to be a packed program which will commence from 9.00am, with feature racing to begin from 4.00pm and run into the evening.
ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Tim McAvaney, said he cannot wait to see the 147-strong line-up on-track.
“It has been years since ANDRA drag racing performed at Sydney Dragway, and we couldn’t be more excited to be entering this final countdown to the event with such a strong entry list,” McAvaney said.
“From local heroes to racers based all over the country – including a host coming from Western Australia to compete – there is going to be some incredible racing to be had on January 24 in the group one and sportsman ranks alike.
“$70,000 in cash and prizes will add spice to the competition, and Gold ANDRA Christmas Trees are a highly regarded reward for victory. And on top of that, of course for our sportsman racers you have valuable ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship points on the line at what is the penultimate round of our 2025/2026 season.
“All of that means that I expect that everyone will be giving it their all across this one-day program.
“Combine that with exciting displays, including from Growl Racing, trade stalls, and the unique open pit style of Australian drag racing, and there is going to be no end of sights and sounds to enjoy.
“I thank all of the racers who have entered for throwing their support behind this event and our return to Sydney, and I can’t encourage race fans enough to grab a ticket and join us at Sydney Dragway on Saturday January 24.”
