PR China set for Trampoline & Tumbling World Championships

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 04.11.2026) :: World champions Hu Yicheng and Wang Zisai are targeting the retention of their titles as the Trampoline & Tumbling World Championships takes place in the People’s Republic of China for the first time between 4-8 November.

An ultra-competitive field featuring Olympic champions Bryony Page (GBR), Zhu Xueying (CHN), and Ivan Litvinovich (BLR) awaits the reigning champions in Nanjing, where 16 World Championship titles will be awarded over five days of high-flying competition.

"China has long been a powerhouse in Trampoline & Tumbling, and we are so excited to discover what they do as hosts of the World Championships," said World Gymnastics President Morinari Watanabe.

"The city of Nanjing has already hosted an Olympic event and is therefore extremely well-positioned to welcome Trampoline & Tumbling's elite. In addition, competition in this discipline has been among the fiercest in any Gymnastics discipline this year, so we expect an incredible show."

In addition to the Olympic discipline, gold medals are up for grabs in Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Synchronised Trampoline, Men’s and Women’s Tumbling, and Men’s and Women’s Double Mini-Trampoline. Team titles will also be determined in everything but the Synchronised categories. The final event is the All-Around team title, which incorporates all disciplines to decide which nation will reign as overall World team champions.

China, which grabbed the All-Around team title for the first time at the 2025 World Championships in Pamplona last November, is eagerly anticipating another first: a home World Championships. For a nation that has enjoyed marked success in the individual discipline, it has been a long time coming.

Chang Cheng, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, described the 2026 Nanjing Trampoline & Tumbling World Championships as a landmark event

and an important milestone for gymnastics as China continues to strengthen its presence and influence on the international stage.

“We hope that all members of the organizing team will live up to the expectations placed upon them, strive for excellence and work together to deliver a world-class sporting event that is safe and seamless, streamlined and efficient, spectacular and successful, environmentally sustainable, and conducted with integrity.”

2026 is a rare year in which nearly all reigning World champions - gymnasts hailing from all four continents - are back to defend their titles. These include Tumbling stars Ethan McGuinness (AUS) and Arina Kaliandra (RUS), Double Mini-Trampoline sensations Ruben Padilla (USA) and Melania Rodriguez (ESP), as well as Synchronised stars Mori Hikaru and Tanaka Saki (JPN), and Stanislau Yaskevich and Katsiaryna Yarshova (BLR), who won the first World title in Mixed Synchronised Trampoline last year.

In the Olympic discipline, in addition to Wang and Hu, reigning Asian Games champion Yan Langyu and Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Zhu will be attempting to add to extensive collections of gold. Yan is trying to earn his third World title, while Zhu could become the first gymnast to win World, Olympic, and Youth Olympic golds, the latter feat she accomplished 12 years ago, also in Nanjing.
