All eyes on Mildura for ANDRA Series

"VAN" (Sports Desk - 02.09.2026) :: Following the opening round of the 2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series in Alice Springs, attention now turns to Mildura where the championship will continue at the Sunset Nationals on September 18-20.

The event at the Davison Ford Sunset Strip will host Round 3 of the series, with ANDRA Christmas Trees and valuable championship points on offer across 10 championship brackets.

The lead-in to this event has changed, however, with the Sunraysia Drag Racing Association (SDRA) confirming the cancellation of the 2026 Junior Nationals due to low entrant numbers.

While this is disappointing news for junior racers, they will still have the opportunity to race for ANDRA Christmas Trees and series points at the Sunset Nationals alongside their fellow championship brackets.

"It is disappointing that the Junior Nationals will not go ahead this year, particularly given the event's place on the calendar and the opportunity it provided for our junior competitors," ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Tim McAvaney, said.

"We respect SDRA's decision and the work involved in delivering these events, especially when entry numbers make things challenging.

"Our focus now turns to the Sunset Nationals, and we are looking forward to what is shaping as an exciting weekend of ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series racing at Mildura.

"Entries are building, all brackets are open, and with a Test 'n' Tune on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday, there is plenty to look forward to.

"There is still time to enter, and we encourage racers to be part of what promises to be a great event at the Sunset Strip."
