- Team Scotland has today announced its Artistic Gymnastics squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
"VAN" (Sports Desk - 03.06.2026) :: Nine athletes will compete across five action-packed days of competition at the Arena this summer.
Among those selected are Gold Coast 2018 bronze medallist Hamish Carter and his Birmingham 2022 teammates Pavel Karnejenko and Cameron Lynn.
Cameron, who returns for his second Games, has also been named captain of the men’s squad.
“It’s a bit surreal, and I wasn’t really expecting it,” he shared.
“But it’s a really special thing, and I take real pride in it.
“For me, being a captain will be about showing up for my team every day and making sure we put on a real performance this summer.”
Completing the men’s team are 2026 British Universities All-Around champion Connor Sullivan and 2026 Scottish All-Around champion Reuben Ward.
Reflecting on his recent Scottish title and what that means going into his debut Commonwealth Games, Reuben said:
“Winning that all-around has definitely built my confidence going into these Games.
“Going back to that venue in the Team Scotland kit this summer is going to be surreal, and I really just can’t wait to see all those flags and hear that crowd.”
On the women’s side, all four athletes will make their Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow. Ellee Cheetham, who joined Reuben at the top of the Scottish All-Around podium earlier this year, is named in the squad after returning to the sport just last year.
For Ellee, being selected for Team Scotland is about making her family proud.
“I came back to the sport last year, originally for my nana so she could see me compete again, and to now be heading to my first Commonwealth Games definitely feels massive.
“Unfortunately, my nana did pass away, so won’t be there, but my whole Scottish family will be. They have been so excited and buzzing to get tickets and come and see me.”
2025 Scottish All-Around champion Crystelle Lake joins the squad after missing out on Birmingham 2022 through injury. Crystelle has also been named women’s squad captain.
“Getting so close last time and then not getting there was so tough, but it’s definitely given me that extra bit of motivation to get here.
“Being selected as captain as well means a lot. Us girls get on so well, and I’m really honoured to be leading them.”
Ava MacFarlane and Lottie Smith complete the women’s team for Glasgow 2026.
The Artistic Gymnastics programme takes place from 24-28 July at the Arena. Register now for the final ticket drop coming 2 June and be in with the chance of watching the Commonwealth’s very best Artistic Gymnasts battle it out for the podium.
