"VAN" (Sports Desk - 10.05.2026) :: The Trap Women final at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty 2026 took place today at 15:30 (local time) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, delivering a world record performance and another high-level final in the competition.
Australia’s Penny Smith, bronze medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, claimed gold after a flawless performance, setting a new World Record (WR) with 30/30 hits. Smith did not miss a single target throughout the final, producing one of the most dominant performances seen this season and confirming her excellent form on the international stage.
Spain’s Fatima Galvez secured the silver medal with 25 hits. The Olympic champion and one of the most experienced athletes in the field remained close throughout the final and once again demonstrated her consistency at the highest level of shotgun shooting.
Bronze went to Slovakia’s Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova, who finished with 21 hits. The Olympic gold medallist added another major ISSF medal to her collection after a composed performance under pressure.
Australia nearly celebrated a double podium, with Laetisha Scanlan finishing fourth after scoring 15 hits. Poland’s Sandra Bernal placed fifth with 10 hits, while Portugal’s Ines de Barros finished sixth with 9 hits, continuing her regular appearances in ISSF finals.
India’s Neeru Neeru concluded the competition in seventh place with 7 hits, while Czech athlete Zina Hrdlickova finished eighth with 6 hits.
The final once again highlighted the depth and international level of women’s Trap shooting, with athletes from multiple continents competing for the podium positions.
Following the strong performances already seen earlier in the competition, Penny Smith’s world record added another historic moment to the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty 2026.
