"VAN" (Sports Desk - 08.08.2026) :: The Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) is gearing up to host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2028 Africa Qualifier Division 2 in Kigali from 9-15 August 2026.
The six-nation tournament will feature host nation Rwanda, along with Uganda, Nigeria, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Ghana. The top three teams at the end of the competition will advance to next year’s Regional Final that will ultimately determine Africa’s final representative at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2028.
All teams will play against each other in a single round-robin group stage format, with matches played at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium (both the Main Oval & B Oval grounds) and the RP-Kigali Oval.
Stephen Musaale, RCA President, said: "It is an absolute honour for Rwanda to once again be chosen by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to host an international tournament of this calibre. Welcoming our African brothers from Uganda, Nigeria, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Ghana to Kigali reflects our growing status as a premier sports destination in the region.
“For our young national team, playing on home soil surrounded by passionate Rwandan fans is an incredible opportunity. We have put every measure in place to ensure a seamless, high-standard tournament experience for players, officials, and supporters alike. The top three teams at the end of the tournament will join Namibia, Kenya and Tanzania in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier in 2027, having already qualified from their section of Division 2.
