"VAN" (Sports Desk - 19.05.2026) :: The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, which stages The Championships, Wimbledon, today announced that Sally Bolton OBE will step down as Chief Executive after The Championships 2026, following six years in the role.
Appointed in 2020, Sally has led the Club through a period of significant change and challenge. She oversaw Wimbledon’s return following the global pandemic, ensuring the successful and safe resumption of The Championships and restoring the event’s position at the pinnacle of world sport.
During her tenure, Sally has guided the continued evolution of Wimbledon as a modern, global sporting event while preserving the traditions that define it. Under her leadership, the Club delivered significant enhancements to the fan and player experience, expanded global reach and revenue through digital and broadcast innovation, and introduced structural changes to the tournament schedule, including the move to a 14-day Championships.
Sally has also supported the Board on the development of the Club’s long-term vision, including establishing plans to expand the Wimbledon site to secure the future growth and sustainability of The Championships.
Deborah Jevans CBE, Chair of the All England Club, said: “Sally has made a very important contribution to the success of the All England Club and The Championships for over a decade and particularly as Chief Executive for the past six years.
“I’d like to thank Sally for her hard work and dedication over that time and commend her for guiding the organisation through a period of significant change.
“A search for Sally’s successor is underway and in the interim, post Championships, Richard Atkinson, our Financial Director, will serve as interim Chief Executive.”
Sally Bolton said: “It has been a great honour and privilege to serve as Chief Executive of the All England Club and to work alongside such a dedicated Board and group of colleagues, partners and the wider tennis community. I am proud of what we have achieved together – particularly bringing The Championships back following the pandemic and in shaping a clear path for the future. The All England Club is a very special institution, and I look forward to seeing it continue to flourish in the years ahead.”
The All England Club will announce further details regarding the appointment of a new Chief Executive in due course. Sally will continue to lead the organisation through The Championships 2026 and support a smooth transition before stepping down from the role.
