"VAN" (Sports Desk - 02.12.2025) :: Shane Baxter is one of more than 165 ANDRA drag racers counting the sleeps to this weekend’s South Coast Nationals – round six of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship.
From Beveridge in Victoria, Baxter is a popular regular face at South Coast Raceway, his home track.
He is also a successful one, with the 2004 and 2006 ANDRA National Competition Eliminator Champion having tasted plenty of success at home over the years, including victory at the 2024 instalment of this weekend’s event.
“Last year’s South Coast Nationals was faultless other than some tyre shake in the first round, and we had a ball,” Baxter said.
“I am really looking forward to racing at my home track again this weekend.”
Baxter heads to this weekend’s racing with one win and one semi-final finish in the 2025/2026 ANDRA series to his name so far.
“The season has been going not too bad, hopefully we can go all right this weekend and at the next one and then we will see how we are looking for chasing the championship,” he said.
“We put a new engine combination in two meetings ago and it is going okay so far, so we will be continuing to get on top of that at the South Coast Nationals.
“Another event win would be really great of course, and those championship points would be valuable too.
“We are ready to rock!” he added, while thanking his crew and sponsors: ICE Ignition, Promatic, SDE Convertors, and Duggan Balancing.
