"VAN" (Afghanistan Bureau - 17.05.2022) :: According to a resident of Kunduz province’s Imam Sahib district, whose name was omitted due to the sensitivity of the matter, the clash occurred near Sher Khan Bandar on Monday, May 16, and lasted for four hours. He continued by stating that the border guard clashes began after a verbal confrontation, with the Taliban firing the first shot. The clash happens between as the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met three days ago to discuss bilateral security issues. Previous skirmishes have also occurred on the Afghan-Pakistani border, as well as the Islam Qala border with Iran. Local Taliban officials have denied the border clashes, but prominent Taliban officials have remained silent. KP
