Intl-community should let flow of money to Afghanistan, disappointed about caretaker cabinet: UN

"VAN" (International Desk - 11.09.2021) :: UN has said that billions of dollars of Afghanistan have been frozen by the international community which will lead to an economic downturn, thus the international community should let the flow of money to Afghanistan withhold humanitarian crisis.

The UN was also disappointed with the new cabinet announced by the Taliban as it does not include women, officials from the previous government, minorities, and people from different classes of the community.

Speaking at the UNSC, UN-Secretary General’s specials representative for Afghanistan Deborah Lyons said, though the 33-member cabinet includes people who are on black lists of the UN, we should address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan without waiting for political decisions including sanctions.

Deborah Lyons said that they are looking forward to the September 13 Geneva conference which will be gathered by the UN secretary-general to meet requirements for humanitarian appeal in Afghanistan.

The special representative added that the Taliban are willing and ask for international assistance as they think that the previous government was corrupt and have squandered billions of dollars.

Lyons added that the international community is looking forward to seeing the Taliban allow experts and people of talent to take part in government apparatus and help rebuild their country.

She also said that they look forward to seen boys and girls seek knowledge in Afghanistan.
