"VAN" (International Desk) :: U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Khalilzad has expressed disappointment regarding a delay in holding the intra-Afghan talks in Qatar. “I’m disappointed Qatar’s intra-Afghan initiative has been delayed. We’re in touch with all parties and encouraged that everyone remains committed to dialogue and the #AfghanPeaceProcess,” Ambassador Khalilzad said in a Twitter post. He also added that “Dialogue is and always will be key to a political roadmap and lasting peace. There is no alternative. I urge all sides to seize the moment and put things back on track by agreeing to a participant list that speaks for all Afghans. I stand ready to help if our help is needed.” This comes as the Afghan government has announced that the intra-Afghan dialogue has been cancelled by the government of Qatar after failing to respond to the demands of the Afghan people to include all 250 delegates in the final list of the participants for the talks.
