Hezb-i-Islami calls on Taliban to join Turkey summit on Afghanistan peace

"VAN" (Afghanistan Bureau) :: Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Hezb-i-Islami leader on Saturday called on the Taliban to attend Tukey’s summit on the Afghanistan peace process, which is set to begin on April 24 in Istanbul.

Taliban needs to prove that their stance is justifiable and they can only make it legit if they join the conference on Afghanistan peace.

Hezb-i-Islami leader, Hekmatyar who once was among the guerilla groups stressed all warring parties should discuss a ceasefire and transfer of the power to a new government during the summit.

He said that US should provide the reason behind the delay to detach misconceptions and mistrust.

Hekmatyar believes the decision was taken due to political reasons, not logistical as US claims it to be.

If the US wants to remove the mistrust, they should at least withdraw half of their troops by May 1st.

Meanwhile, the Taliban has reportedly stressed they will not participate in any type of summit on Afghanistan peace unless all foreign troops leave the nation.

This comes as US announced to pull its troops out of Afghanistan by September 11.
